About the Foundation

St. Joseph’s Health Foundation’s primary purpose is to raise funds that will be used to enhance patient care and comfort throughout St. Joseph’s Health’s network of services.

St. Joseph’s Health Foundation was incorporated in 1976 to raise charitable support to enable the system to build and modernize facilities, install the latest medical technology, maintain primary care centers to provide care to uninsured and underserved families, provide for patient comfort and care, and fund staff education to stay abreast of the newest developments in medical care and treatment.

A 509(a)(3) under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the Foundation raises money and community awareness, under the leadership of Vincent J. Kuss, MBA, MS, Vice President for Development, for St. Joseph’s Health and its many award-winning programs and services through a variety of means which include:

• Annual Gala Dinner Dance
• Annual Golf Classic
• Annual Giving Opportunities
• Hospital endowments which include:
  • St. Joseph’s Hospital Endowment for Mission Services
  • St. Joseph’s Medical Technology Endowment
  • Endowed College Scholarships
• Physician Loan Repayment Program
• Naming Gifts
• In-Kind Giving
• Walkways of Caring: inscribed bricks and benches
• The 1869 Society: A giving program through which donors can make major philanthropic gifts, in lifetime or at death, using estate and tax planning techniques to provide for charity and other heirs in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on the donor’s estate
• Innovative Mini-Grant Program: funds are provided by St. Joseph’s Health Foundation for system-wide staff to apply for funding to support an initiative not included in their departmental budget
• Grants and submitted proposals

Outright donations and planned estate gifts are graciously accepted for a specific project or department, in memory of a loved one, or can be directed by donors to where the need is greatest.
